to say this dude blows my mind is an understatement, with a passion for timelapse and the love of my south dakota roots, i have to say i have watched this video about 50 times already.

In his words: During the month of May, I shot Milky Way timelapse in central South Dakota when I had the time, and the weather cooperated. The biggest challenge was cloudy nights and the wind. There were very few nights, when I could shoot, that were perfectly clear, and often the wind was blowing 25mph +. That made it hard to get the shots I wanted. I kept most of the shots low to the ground, so the wind wouldn’t catch the setup and cause camera shake, or blow it over. I used a Stage Zero Dolly on the dolly shots and a “Milapse” mount on the panning ones.

This was all shot at night. If you see stars and it looks like daylight, it is actually moon light. 20+ second exposures make it look like daylight.

Shot in RAW format, the Milky Way shots were 30 seconds exposure F2.8 or F1.8 with 2 second interval between shots, for 3-4 hours run time. ISO 1600, the opening shot was ISO 3200.

Ten seconds of the video is about 2 hours 20 minutes in real time.

big hopes & little wishes.

to be honest, i have been in the process of a quarter life crises this entire autumn. i find myself daydreaming about my own studio every morning. waking up and getting the paper, drinking coffee, checking my email & starting the day with a clear and creative mind. choosing the clients i want to have and enjoying my time with them, fully capturing their sweet & silly family moments is the least i could do. the feeling of a day well spent, my heart softened and thankful, these are the things i dream of when i wake up in the moonlight, waiting to start my day.

someday, i tell myself, some sweet day.

these past few weeks, though stressful and dreary have given me the wonderful opportunity to look inward and find what i really want in my life and the main thing i want is to feel accomplishment. i have had the opportunity to dream, and be forced to settle down the noise in my mind, the distractions, the buzz and figure out exactly how i want to run my life and therefore my business.

i have decided to start my own studio, gradually. baby step upon baby step, i hope to gradually be able to separate myself from the weekly work schedule & make my own. i want to create how i want to create, without a time clock and without the pressure.

Sinkland Farms.

We decided to take Olivia for her first visit to the pumpkin patch! She LOVED it! We went through the corn maze, walked around the pumpkin patch and Olivia made us meet everyone we came across. She sure is a little social butterfly, and my goodness does she love everyone! After attempting to eat a corn cob, a smushed pumpkin and a grasshopper, it was obviously time to head home.
